Italy 1 New Zealand 1: New Zealand deserved that
Sunday, 20 June 2010 16:46
It wasn't a match that will be remembered for flowing football but it will be a result remembered for a long time by the half naked New Zealand fans waving their shirts above their heads with ten minutes to go.
It will be remembered because little New Zealand, the team I had down to lose by a few today, fought and battle and did everything necessary to hold off Italy and if it wasn't for a silly mistake and some very good falling over by an Italian, they might have won.

Slovakia 0 Paraguay 2: A decent game to start the day
Sunday, 20 June 2010 14:46
I enjoyed that. Two teams that I didn't think I would enjoy and judging by the empty seats, I wasn't the only that thought that, but I was pleasantly surprised and with Italy beating New Zealand in about twenty minutes, sorry that should have read 'kicking off' against New Zealand - I'm guessing we will see more goals too.
At the end of the day, Paraguay deserved the win while Slovakia looked like they were a little lost. They won't qualify because to do that they need to beat Italy even if Italy play as badly as England, they will still beat Slovakia.

Italy v New Zealand, World Cup Group F, Match 28
Sunday, 20 June 2010 06:48
New Zealand rescued a point in their first game but it wasn't special. This one later today against Italy, I suspect, will be one they want to forget.
I don't think it will necessarily be because New Zealand played badly - they will fight for everything and show levels of determination usually only associated with Wayne Rooney playing Connect Four, but Italy will have a point to prove and that will be picking up three points in the most efficient manner possible.

Slovakia v Paraguay, World Cup Group F, Match 27
Sunday, 20 June 2010 04:11
This is one of those matches that are going to be tough to predict as both teams could surprise and both teams are not playing at the level where we are going to see consistent performances week in week out.
However, we do have an opinion and it is a straightforward one too. Paraguay drew with Italy in their first match and SLovakia drew with New Zealand - who do you think had the tougher match?

I'm a Kiwi - Winston Reid
Wednesday, 16 June 2010 09:10
New Zealand goalscorer Winston Reid was born in New Zealand but moved to Denmark when he was ten and has represented Denmark at Under-21 level but he is now convinced he made the right decision by picking New Zealand over his adopted home at full international level.
"For a long time I have been torn between the two countries. I was asking myself if I was a Kiwi or a Dane," said Reid, who could have been playing for Denmark in Group E.
